If you happen to be under the age of 8 (or, more likely, are buying for someone who is!), go with HICKIES Kids. They’re a little bit smaller with rounded clasps that are made for tiny hands and feet. We recommend them to any cool, trendsetting kid between the ages of 4 and 8.

Every pack will give you enough straps for one pair of shoes (and sometimes, depending on your sneaker design, two pairs of shoes!). HICKIES Laces and HICKIES with Crystals contain 14 straps each. HICKIES Kids packs contain 10 straps and DooHICKIES come with 2 charms per pack. Pro tip: get a few different colors or a multicolored pack to mix ’n’ match!

HICKIES are made from a material called thermoplastic elastomer, which is a flexible rubber with springy elasticity. They contain no latex.

No way, HICKIES are 100% latex-free. They’re made from thermoplastic elastomer (which is a fancy way to say rubber with springy elasticity).

This is our favorite question! HICKIES laces are an alternative to regular, tale-as-old-as-time shoelaces. They aren’t made from fabric or nylon or a woven textile that will absorb any wetness that it encounters. They’re made from flexible rubber called thermoplastic elastomer. The rubber part means they’re moisture-wicking, so you won’t come home with sopping wet laces after a run in the rain. The flexible part means HICKIES can bounce and stretch, just like you do, without losing their form or elasticity. . There’s no need to tie them every time you put on and take off your shoes because they’re secured with durable clasps that you won’t have to reconnect every time you wear your sneakers. Just slip them on, slide them off, and get going. Plus, you can install HICKIES any which way to give you the perfect fit—HICKIES are made to adapt to you.

HICKIES aren’t traditional shoelaces, they’re a lacing system. When you buy a pack of HICKIES, you’re actually buying our lacing system, a group of 10-14 straps (depending on whether you buy a pack for kids or adults). The straps work together to weave and interlock at just the right points on your shoes to give you a secure-but-not-tight, comfy-but-not-loose, perfect adaptive fit. We call it the HICKIES fit, it’s just that good.

Yes! We recommend either keeping them in your shoes when you wash, or putting them together in a washable bag. Most importantly, just make sure to wash your HICKIES laces with cold water and to keep them out of your dryer. While they can go the distance, they won’t survive the super high temps of your dryer, so we recommend you air dry them.

While HICKIES don’t look like shoelaces, they do work in a similar way to secure your sneakers, while giving you superior fit and comfort. But since they are so unique, we don’t always just call them “laces”—sometimes you’ll see “lacing system” and “straps” used interchangeably. So here’s how it works: HICKIES laces are laces, just a new and different kind, so that’s why we call them “laces.” We use “straps” because that’s what the HICKIES lacing system is made up of: 10-14 straps (depending on whether you buy a pack for kids or adults) that you weave through the eyelets of your shoes and clasp together. Since straps are shorter and connect at more points, they aren’t long and continuous like laces you’re used to putting in your shoes. Our “lacing system” is how the straps come together, forming your perfect fit and adapting to your every move.

HICKIES Laces is our signature product mostly used by adults, but they also work for children over the age of 8. HICKIES Kids Laces are a smaller version of HICKIES Laces, made with shorter straps and rounded clasps so they can comfortably be held by small hands. HICKIES Kids Laces are recommended for kids between the ages of 4 and 8 (sorry, no infant or toddler sizes yet!). Both HICKIES Laces and HICKIES Kids Laces come in a fun range of colors and can be adjusted during installation for the perfect HICKIES fit!

Surprise! When you buy 3 packs, you get 1 free (or when you buy 4, you get 2 free). The free packs are automatically added to your cart, so you don’t have to. That means that you won’t know what the free packs are until you receive your order (which makes them a fun surprise!), but surprise packs are also totally on us and you aren’t charged for them.

Since surprise packs are determined by fate (meaning randomly picked by our system), you won’t be able to select the color of them. But you wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise anyway, now would you?
